admit的用法说明

【基本词义】

1. 承认：

I admit that I was rude and I am sorry. 我承认当时没礼貌，真是对不起。

2. 接纳，招收：

He was admitted into the club as a member. 他被接纳为俱乐部的会员。

3. 让…进入：

We were admitted to the club by the owner. 俱乐部的老板准许我们进入。

【常用短语】

admit of 容许：

It admits of doubt. 不容存疑。

【用法说明】

1. 表示承认做了某事，其后通常接动名词，不接不定式：

She admitted having broken the mirror. 她承认她打破了镜子。用于此义时通常及物，但有时也可不及物，后接介词to：

He admitted stealing. 他供认了偷盗。

2. 表示“允许…进入某处”时，不接不定式的复合结构，即不说admit sb to enter a place：

He admitted us to enter the building. 可改为：

He admitted us into the building. 他允许我们进入大楼。

3. 要表示承认某人做了某事，其后也不接不定式的复合结构，可改用宾语从句，如不说：

He admitted her to do it well. 可改为：

He admitted that she did it well. 他承认她做得很好。但是，当不定式为to be时是例外：

He admitted the task to be difficult. 他承认这项工作很困难。
