advertise用法说明

【基本词义】

vi. 登广告，做广告：

He advertised for a secretary. 他登广告招聘一名秘书。

vt. 为…做广告：

They advertise their goods in the local papers. 他们在本地报纸上为产品做广告。

【常用短语】

advertise oneself 自吹自擂：

Stop advertising yourself. 别再吹嘘自己了。

be advertised as 被宣传为：

The inn is advertised as being from the early 16th century. 这家小旅馆被宣传为自16世纪初就有了。

【用法说明】

1. 用作及物或不及物动词时含义不同：

advertise sth指为某物做广告，即登广告宣传某物，advertise for sth指登广告征求或寻找某物，其中的 for表目的。注意，不要受汉语的影响而译错，如“你要想卖掉你的产品, 你就得为此登广告”译成英语应是：

If you want to sell your product you must advertise it. 而不是：

If you want to sell your product you must advertise for it.

2. 用作及物动词时，其后通常接名词或代词作宾语，虽然有时也接that从句，但通常会改为advertise the fact that…：

They advertised that a position was open. 他们登出广告说有一个空职位。

Don’t advertise the fact that you’re looking for another job. 不要让别人知道你在另找工作。

3. 要加强其语意，可用heavily, widely等副词修饰：

These products have been advertised very heavily. 这些产品广告做得很多。
