acquaint,acquaint,acquaintance的用法说明
一、acquaint 使认识，使了解，使熟悉：
She acquainted them with the facts. 她把事实告诉了他们。
I’m not personally acquainted with him. 我本人与他并不熟悉。
【用法说明】
1. acquaint只用作及物动词，不用作不及物动词。若其后没有宾语，应考虑使用be [get, become] acquainted之类的结构，如“我们就是这样认识的”不能译为：
This is how we acquainted. 可改为：
This is how we got [became] acquainted.
2. acquaint的意思不是“熟悉”，而是“使某人熟悉”。要表示熟悉某人，应用be acquainted with sb，如“我熟悉这位经理”不能译为：
I acquaint the manager. 可改为：
I’m acquainted with the manager.
二、acquaintance
1. [C]相识的人，熟人：
He is not a friend, only an acquaintance. 他不是朋友，只是相熟。
2. [S]熟悉，熟知：
It was in the

that I made the acquaintance of Professor Jones. 我是在美国认识琼斯教授的。
【常用短语】
have a passing [nodding, bowing] acquaintance with 与…有浮浅的认识或点头之交：
I have no more than a nodding acquaintance with her novels. 我对她写的小说不甚了解。
have some acquaintance with 对…有点熟悉：
I have some acquaintance with Spanish. 我懂一点西班牙语。make sb’s acquaintance 结识某人：
I made his acquaintance at a party. 我是在一个聚会 上认识他的。on first acquaintance 初次认识：
Most people are nicer than you think on first acquaintance. 大多数人在你初次相识时比你像的要友好。
on [upon] acquaintance 经过进一步的熟悉：
His manner seemed unpleasant at first, but he improved on further acquaintance. 他的举止起初让人很不愉快，但是经过进一步接触他改了许多。
三、acquainted
1. 认识的，相识的：
We are acquainted. 我们认识。
2. 知道的，熟悉的：
Are you acquainted with these facts? 你知道这些事实吗？
【用法说明】
1. be acquainted表示熟悉的“状态”，要表示熟悉的动作，可考虑将be改为get, become等，如“我是去年认识他的”不能译为：
I was acquainted with him last year. 可改为：
I got [became] acquainted with him last year.
2. 若要加强语气，可用closely, fully, well等副词修饰：
He was fully [well] acquainted with the facts. 他完全熟悉事实。
