action的用法说明

1. [U]行动，动作：

The quick action of the firemen saved the building from being burned down. 消防队员行动及时，该建筑物方免遭焚毁。

2. [C]行为，举动：

We cannot answer for his action. 我们不能对他的行为负责。

3. [C,U]作用：

His comparison of the heart to a pump helped the children understand its action. 他将心脏比作打气筒有助于孩子们了解心脏的作用。

4. [S]情节：

All the action in the play takes place at one railroad station. 该剧的整个情节均发生在一座火车站里。

5. [S,U]运动，活动：

in action 在活动中，在运转中：

【用法辨析】

act, action。act 主要用于具体的、短暂的、个别的行为；action主要用于抽象的、时间较长、包括不同步骤的、可以连续的行为：

That’s one true act of friendship. 那是真正的友谊之举。

He is a man of action. 他是位活动家。但若不严格区分，两者也可换用：

His heroic act [action] was long remembered. 他的英勇行为人们长记不忘。但是，在机械和物理用语中，通常要用action，而不用act。
